This 2001 BMW 740i was acquired by the seller in 2015 and has since been modified with a 4.9-liter S62 V8, a six-speed manual transmission, and an instrument cluster sourced from an E39 M5. The car has been refinished in white over black leather, and also features 18″ M Parallel wheels, Bilstein dampers with H&R springs, a custom exhaust system with MagnaFlow mufflers, heated and power-adjustable and seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power-operated sunroof, parking distance control, and navigation. A new clutch was reportedly installed in November 2020, while an oil change and a coolant flush were carried out in March 2021.
The body was refinished in its factory shade of Alpine White in February 2021 aLording to the seller, and features xenon headlights with washers as well as clear turn signal lenses, Shadowline window trim, and rear roof and lip spoilers. The front kidney grilles have been painted black with tri-color stripes on the right side, and the rear bumper cover has been modified to clear the quad-outlet exhaust system.
Staggered-width 18″ M Parallel wheels are wrapped in Sumitomo HTR-Z III tires that measure 235/50 up front and 255/45 out back. The car has been lowered on Bilstein dampers and H&R springs. Braking is from cross-drilled and slotted rotors, and each brake caliper wears an aftermarket red finish.
The cabin was originally trimmed in gray, and received a black leather conversion from a donor vehicle in 2020. Amenities include heated Comfort seats, Vavona redwood trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear window shades, a power-operated glass sunroof, parking sensors, and a replacement navigation screen with a Bluetooth interface.
A heated multi-function steering wheel frames an E39-sourced gauge cluster that features a 185-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a variable redline. The digital odometer indicates 139k miles.
The 4.9-liter S62 V8 is said to have been sourced from a 2003 E39 M5 and installed in 2015. The engine features variable valve timing and was factory rated at 394 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Maintenance in March 2021 included a coolant flush and an oil change.
The custom exhaust system features an X-pipe, dual MagnaFlow mufflers, and four polished stainless steel tips. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission also sourced from an E39 M5, and the clutch is said to have been replaced in November 2020.
