This 1948 Buick Super convertible sedan was acquired by the seller in 1980 as a father-son project and subsequently refurbished. The car is finished in maroon over a matching vinyl interior and is powered by a later-model 263ci Fireball straight-eight. Originally Aztec Green, the car was refinished in red following the seller’s acquisition. Features include a hydraulic soft top, fender skirts, chrome trim, and side-view mirrors. The convertible top features tan replacement canvas and the hydraulic pump has reportedly been rebuilt.
Body-color 15″ steel wheels wear chrome covers and are wrapped in bias-ply wide whitewall tires that are in need of replacement. The seller states that the brake master cylinder and wheel cylinders were replaced in 2020.
The interior was reportedly retrimmed in the 1980s and features maroon vinyl bench seats along with matching door panels and carpets. An aftermarket cassette stereo is fitted, and the hydraulic systems for the power front seat and front windows are said to have been rebuilt. The clock is disconnected and the heater valve needs to be resealed. Factory-style 6- and 12-volt radios are included in the sale.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, an ammeter, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 9,500 miles.
The 263ci straight-eight was sourced from a 1950 Buick and installed during previous ownership. The engine was reportedly Magnafluxed, rebuilt, and balanced in 1993, and is equipped with a 12-volt electrical system. The gas tank is said to have been cleaned and resealed in 2020, and the oil was also changed at that time. The seller notes that the engine will periodically vapor lock and that the windshield washer is not installed.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission.
