This 1959 Land Rover 88 Series II is finished in blue over black, and its gasoline-fueled 2.25-liter inline-four is paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Features include a brown soft top and side panels, 16″ steel wheels, a spare mounted to the hood, off-roading lights, a heater, and seating for seven. The seller’s uncle acquired the truck out of South Carolina in 2016, and service since that time is said to have included rebuilding the carburetor, replacing the spark plugs as well as engine and gearbox gaskets, and changing the fluids.
The truck is said to have been partially refinished in blue by its previous owner. The brown soft top features integral side and rear panels, and off-roading lights have been added to the front bumper.
Beige-finished 16″ wheels wear Hankook RW11 i-Pike tires, which are said to have been installed under current ownership. A spare is mounted to the hood.
The interior features three seats with black upholstery, with two bench seats on either side of the rear compartment. The floors were refinished by the previous owner and are protected by rubber liners.
A banjo-style steering wheel frames a body-matching dashboard. Instrumentation includes a 70-mph speedometer, a combination gauge, and a Smiths gauge to monitor oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 25k miles.
The 2.25-liter inline-four was introduced in 1958 and features a single carburetor. The seller states that the engine was resealed while it remained in the truck, and other service since 2016 has included the following:
- Water pump refurbished and gasket replaced
- Intake- and exhaust-manifold gaskets replaced
- Oil-pan gasket replaced
- Carburetor rebuilt
- Spark plugs replaced
- Internally regulated alternator installed
- Coolant, engine oil, gearbox fluid, and differential fluid changed
- Front gearbox seal replaced and gearbox pan resealed
- Power is delivered to all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case.
