This 1960 Rambler American Super station wagon is finished in black over red vinyl and powered by a 196ci flathead inline-six paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Features include an electrically operated overdrive unit, dual carburetors, an aftermarket exhaust system, LED taillights, lay-down “Airliner” front seats, an AM radio, and auxiliary air horns. Recent service includes the replacement of suspension components, the brake lines, and an alignment. Recently acquired by the selling dealer, this Rambler wagon is now offered by the selling dealer in Massachusetts with black California license plates, service records, and a clean Texas title.
The body is finished in black and features a white vinyl-wrapped roof, polished trim, chrome bumpers, parking lights, LED taillights, and sliding side windows. The seller notes bubbling paint under the left-rear side window.
Five-spoke Rev wheels feature polished lips and wear Fuzion Touring A/S tires. The Rambler rides on front coil and rear leaf springs, and stopping power is provided by self-adjusting drum brakes at all four corners. Service in March 2021 reportedly included replacing the brake lines, front shocks, front outer tie rods, idler arm bushings, and front wheel cylinders as well as performing an alignment and modifying the emergency brake placement to reduce slack.
The cabin has been reupholstered in red vinyl with a matching headliner, carpets, and door panels. The car features a front “Airliner” bench seat with a split lay-down back, a folding rear bench seat, an AM radio, auxiliary air horns, and a body-color dashboard with metal trim. The seller notes that the seals for the rear hatch and switch for the horn button have been recently replaced.
Instrumentation consists of a 100-mph speedometer and gauges for temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 56k miles, approximately 200 of which were added by the selling dealer.
The 196ci flathead inline-six has reportedly been modified with an Edelbrock cylinder head, twin Holley carburetors, an electronic ignition, and an aftermarket exhaust system. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission with a column-mounted shifter and an electrically operated overdrive.
