This 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 is white-over-beige Sunliner convertible powered by an X-code 352ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a power-operated beige convertible top, air conditioning, and a Ford AM radio. First delivered through Ford’s District of Columbia ordering district, the car was acquired by the seller in February 2021 out of Kentucky. It received a repaint during prior ownership, while work performed by the seller included installation of a Flowmaster exhaust system and 20″ American Racing wheels.
American Racing 20″ wheels feature a gold finish accented with polished lips and are fitted with Milestar tires.
The interior features twin bench seats upholstered in two-tone vinyl, and matching door and kick panel treatments are contrasted by orange carpeting. Controls for the air-conditioning system are mounted under the painted dashboard, and a Ford-branded push-button AM radio is retained in the factory location.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames instrumentation including a horizontal-sweep 120-mph speedometer, a temperature gauge, a fuel-level gauge, and a five-digit odometer that shows 51k miles.
The X-code 352ci ‘Thunderbird Special’ V8 is equipped with a two-barrel carburetor and was factory-rated at 220 horsepower when new. Power is sent rearward through a Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission.
