This 1966 GAZ Volga 21 is said to have been used by the Soviet Embassy in Sao Paulo, Brazil, before it was returned to Russia following the collapse of the Soviet Union. It was subsequently refurbished and fitted with a 3.0-liter Toyota 3VZ-E V6 before it was imported to the US, where it acquired by the seller and subsequently imported to Canada in 2017. The car is finished in black over two-tone gray upholstery, and equipment includes an automatic transmission, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ chrome five-spoke wheels, air conditioning, and a retro-style stereo.
The third series GAZ Volga 21 was introduced in 1962, and this example is believed to have been repainted in black under previous ownership. It features bi-color taillights, mud flaps, tinted windows, dual mirrors, a chrome 36-slat grille, and a prancing deer hood ornament. A Soviet-era number plate is fitted up front, and the rear license plate is included in the sale.
The 15″ Ridler chrome five-spoke wheels are mounted with 215/70 Douglas Xtra Trac II tires. Four-wheel disc brakes were added under previous ownership, and the brakes were bled in August 2020.
The cabin features front and rear benches that were reupholstered in two-tone gray under previous ownership. Matching door panels and gray carpets are fitted, and equipment includes an under-dash air-conditioning unit and a retro-style stereo. The clock is inoperable, and the speakers work intermittently.
The ivory-color steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and fronts a 100-mph speedometer, while a Sunpro tachometer and an aftermarket fuel-level gauge are fitted below the dash. The fuel-level gauge does not read beyond half full. Just under 77k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, 1,500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 3.0-liter Toyota 3VZ-E V6 was sourced from a Toyota pickup and was reportedly installed in Russia. A Delco starter was installed in June 2020.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via an automatic transmission that the seller states was sourced and installed alongside the engine in Russia.
