This 1966 Volvo 122S is a two-door example that is finished in Light Blue over black vinyl and is powered by a 1.8-liter inline-four paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 15″ wheels, dual SU carburetors, an IPD sport exhaust, an electronic ignition system, and an AM/FM radio. The car was previously owned by Keith Martin of Sports Car Market magazine and was acquired by the current owner in April of 2021. Over $7k worth of repairs and upgrades were carried out in 2020 by Swedish Relics of Hillsboro, Oregon. Work included overhauling the suspension as well as installing a new windshield gasket, Cibie H4 headlights, a 123 GT dash pad, thermostat, shift linkage bushings, and fuel filter.
The two-door body is finished in Light Blue and features chrome bumpers, Cibie H4 headlights, a single side-view mirror, and gold-colored hood badging. The windshield seal and wiper blades were replaced in February 2020. Wear and stone chips are noted on the front fascia.
Steel 15″ wheels feature Volvo hubcaps and wear 165/80 Americus Touring Plus tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. In February 2020, Swedish Relics installed the following:
The cabin is trimmed in black vinyl and features a body-color lower dashboard and upper door trim. Equipment includes bucket seats with 123 GT recliners, a heater, an AM/FM radio, aftermarket sound insulation, and a replacement 123 GT dash pad. In February 2020, Swedish Relics also installed a window guide channel kit and rear three-point seatbelts.
Instrumentation includes a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level, and a five-digit odometer showing approximately 33k miles.
The 1.8-liter B18 inline-four is fitted with factory dual SU carburetors along with steel timing gears, hardened valve seats, an electronic ignition system, and an alternator conversion. Service in February 2020 consisted of replacing the fuel filter, thermostat, and rerouting the battery cable.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission. The shift linkage bushings have been replaced, and an IPD sport exhaust is also fitted.
