This 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 was built on December 26, 1968, at Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan, plant and was originally delivered to Read Mullan Motor Co. of Phoenix, Arizona. It was acquired by the seller as a project in 2018 from its previous owner of 20 years and underwent a refurbishment that completed in 2020. The car is finished in Wimbledon White with a black hood over black vinyl upholstery, and power comes from a 428ci Cobra Jet V8 paired with a three-speed C6 automatic transmission. Equipment includes a shaker hood scoop and 14″ Magnum 500–style wheels. This Mach 1 is now offered with a Deluxe Marti Report, refurbishment records, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car is said to have received new sheet metal in the quarter panels before a repaint in factory Wimbledon White (M5) was performed under the seller’s ownership. Features include a front lip spoiler, color-keyed racing mirrors, quarter-panel scoops, dual exhaust outlets, and Mach 1 side and rear stripes.
The 14″ Magnum 500-style wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The braking and suspension systems are said to have been overhauled during the refurbishment. Power-assisted steering was optioned from the factory.
The cabin features high-back bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl with a matching rear bench and simulated woodgrain appliqués on the dash, console, and deluxe door panels. The car was optioned with the Visibility Group package, and the radio is missing. The woodgrain steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 93k miles, and total mileage is unknown. The seller notes that the plumbing for the air-conditioning system has not been re-installed.
The R-code 428ci V8 was reportedly rebuilt during the refurbishment and was factory rated at 335 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. Engine casting number photos can be seen up close in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed C6 automatic transmission that was reportedly rebuilt under current ownership.
