This 1969 Volkswagen Beetle convertible is finished in Yukon Yellow with a tan top and interior, and during prior ownership a replacement 1.8-liter flat-four was installed and fitted with a PerTronix electronic ignition system as well as an Empi carburetor and GT muffler. Additional equipment includes a four-speed manual transaxle, a SCAT T-handle shifter, a RetroSound radio, a tan top boot, lowered suspension, low-back front seats, 15″ chrome-finished wheels, and chrome bumpers and trim. The car was acquired by the seller in 2020, and service performed since then included an oil change, a valve adjustment, and replacement of the valve cover gaskets, seals and trim, seatbelts, and fuel hoses.
The bodywork was refinished in its original Yukon Yellow (L19K) during prior ownership and features a tan soft top. Additional equipment includes rubber-topped running boards, dual side-view mirrors, a fender-mounted antenna, and aftermarket exhaust tips, along with chrome bumpers, headlight rings, and trim. A torn seam in the top, trim, seals, and emblems were replaced in 2021.
Steel 15″ wheels with a chrome finish wear VW-logo hubcaps and a mixed set of tires, and a matching full-size spare is stored in the front trunk, along with a jack and tools. The car is equipped with KYB shock absorbers and is lowered in the front with 2.5″ drop spindles. The brakes were inspected in March 2020.
The cabin features low-back front seats and a folding rear bench trimmed in textured tan vinyl, along with matching carpets and door panels, body-colored steel surfaces, and a black dashboard. Replacement seatbelts and an electric windshield washer system were installed in 2020, and additional equipment includes a heater, parcel tray, map pockets, a SCAT T-handle shifter, a locking glovebox, and a RetroSound radio. The metal under the battery was replaced during prior ownership.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a Wolfsburg crest and a chrome horn ring, and it sits ahead of a factory 90-mph speedometer with an inset fuel gauge. An aftermarket tachometer and gauges for oil pressure and oil temperature were installed during prior ownership and recently repaired. The five-digit odometer shows 73k miles.
The replacement 1.8-liter flat-four was installed and modified during prior ownership and includes an Empi 38 EGAS two-barrel carburetor, a 009-style distributor, a PerTronix Flame-Thrower coil and electronic ignition system, a SCAT serpentine belt system, and an EMPI GT muffler. Fuel hoses and engine bay wiring were replaced during current ownership.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
