This 1971 Pontiac GTO convertible is finished in green over black vinyl and is powered by a fuel-injected 455ci V8 paired with an M21 four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black convertible top with a black vinyl boot, front center console, power windows, power front disc brakes, power steering, a Hurst shifter, American Racing wheels, a dual exhaust system, dual exterior mirrors, and a push-button AM/FM radio. The car was acquired by the seller in 2006 and was subsequently refurbished over a two-year period.
The car has been refinished metallic green and features a black convertible soft top, eyebrow stripe kit, bright rocker and wheel well moldings, a Ram Air hood with a hood-mounted tachometer, an Endura front bumper, a rear wing, and dual twin exhaust outlets. The convertible top pump, lines, and motor were reportedly replaced during the refurbishment.
Chrome 15″ American Racing wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Advantage T/A tires. Equipment includes power steering as well as power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drums. The car is said to have a Hotchkis Performance suspension and Koni shock absorbers installed.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black vinyl with a matching dash, console, door panels, and carpeting. Additional interior appointments include a center console, Hurst shifter with cueball knob, lap belts, power windows, and a push-button AM/FM radio.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames engine-turned dash trim and a 140-mph speedometer flanked by an analog clock and auxiliary warning light gauge. An Auto Meter oil pressure and water temperature gauge are mounted under the dash. The replacement five-digit mechanical odometer shows 1,300 miles, approximately 200 of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 455ci V8 is said to have been modified with high-performance engine internals, FAST fuel injection system, ceramic coated exhaust manifolds, and electronic ignition. Other features include a “Pontiac 455” script custom air cleaner cover and black Pontiac valve covers.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through an M21 four-speed manual transmission and Eaton positraction rear differential.
