This 1973 Mercedes-Benz 450SLC was reportedly sold new in San Diego, California, and spent time in Oregon prior to its acquisition by the current owner in 2018. The car is finished in Silver Green Metallic over Pine Green leather and powered by a 4.5-liter V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The car was refinished in the factory Silver Green Metallic (861) during previous ownership. Paintless dent repair was performed in October 2015, and body seals and weatherstripping were replaced at that time.
Silver 14″ Bundt wheels are wrapped in 205/70 Toyo Eclipse tires. A spare wheel and tire are mounted in the trunk. The brake system was flushed in May 2021, and the front and left-rear brake calipers were resealed at that time. The steering linkage was replaced in 2015.
The cabin features Pine Green leather seats along with a matching dashboard, door panels, carpets, and floor mats. Equipment includes air conditioning, power windows, central locking, a lockable glovebox, and a Becker Grand Prix AM/FM radio. Refurbishment work in 2015 included new seat padding, repairing the audio system, and re-dying the center console. There is a stain on the passenger-side floor mat.
VDO instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 65k miles.
The 4.5-liter M117 V8 produced 190 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque when new. Oxidation is present on the air filter housing and intake arm, and the seller notes that cold starts sometimes require two turns of the key. Service invoices show more than $25k spent in 2015 on refurbishment work including an ignition tune-up, draining and flushing the fuel tank, and replacing the valve-cover gaskets, timing chain, fuel injectors, and cooling system components.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission.
