This 1982 BMW 320i was refurbished and modified by CAtuned Motorsports of Sacramento, California prior to the seller’s acquisition around a year ago. Work included an interior refresh, suspension modifications, and the installation of a rebuilt 2.5-liter M20 inline-six fitted with a Hartge crankshaft and Stage 1 camshaft. The car is finished in Alpine White over black, and additional features include a Getrag 260 five-speed manual transmission, a 3.73 Wavetrac limited-slip differential, a Nardi steering wheel, air conditioning, Euro-spec bumpers, polished multi-piece BBS RM wheels, CAtuned adjustable coilovers, and Recaro sport seats. This modified E21 is being offered at no reserve with a tool kit, an owner’s manual, clean Carfax report, and a clean New Mexico title in the seller’s name.
The car was reportedly repainted its factory shade of Alpine White in 2017 and a ceramic coating was applied to the exterior the following year. A rear lip spoiler and bumper skirt were added, along with re-chromed slim Euro-spec bumpers, single-piece headlights with an LED conversion, and a replacement windshield. Additional features include a manually-operated sunroof, a front lip spoiler, CAtuned hood badge, and chrome side-view mirrors.
Polished 16” staggered-width BBS RM wheels have been converted to multi-piece units and feature red BBS center caps. A full-size spare is found in the trunk, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with Wilwood calipers and vented rotors up front. CAtuned Street Performance adjustable coilovers are fitted at all four corners, and additional features include polyurethane bushings along with replacement suspension arms and links.
Sound deadening material was added to the cabin before being fitted with adjustable Recaro bucket seats trimmed in black Alcantara with white stitching and a matching dashboard, center console, and custom door panels. The carpet has been re-dyed black, and the headliner has been reupholstered in a matching suede. Additional features include CAtuned red seatbelts and an Alpine CD stereo with Bluetooth connectivity wired to E30 rear speaker housings and replacement speakers up front.
A wood-rimmed Nardi three-spoke steering wheel is fitted to an NRG hub and frames a custom CAtuned instrument cluster housing refurbished instrumentation including a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, a 150-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 999k miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The 2.5-liter M20 inline-six was rebuilt by CAtuned and reportedly fitted with a Hartge crankshaft and valve cover, a stage 1 camshaft, KM Cams rocker arms, ARP head studs, and polyurethane mounts. Additional equipment includes a refurbished engine wiring harness, a trunk-mounted battery, and a replacement radiator with an electric fan.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag 260 five-speed manual transmission that has reportedly been resealed and fitted with a machined flywheel and Sachs clutch.
