This 1985 Mercedes-Benz 380SL is finished in Midnight Blue over Royal Blue MB-Tex and is powered by a 3.8-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a dark blue convertible top, a body-color removable hardtop, a power antenna, 14″ alloy wheels, anti-lock brakes, automatic climate control, cruise control, Coco Mats, and a Becker Grand Prix cassette stereo with auxiliary input. The car was reportedly purchased new in South Orange, New Jersey, and it spent time in Florida and Missouri prior to its acquisition by the seller in December 2017.
The car is finished in Midnight Blue (904) with red pinstripes, a dark blue convertible top, and chrome trim on the wheel arches and bumpers. A body-color removable hardtop, stand, and cover are included in the sale, and other exterior equipment includes front fog lamps and a power antenna. A dent on the right door was repaired under the seller’s ownership, and the right-front fender was refinished following corrosion repair. The seller notes evidence of other paintwork, and corrosion can be seen on the left-front corner and behind the passenger-side front wheel well.
The 14″ alloy wheels are mounted with 205/70 Maxxis MA-202 tires. Anti-lock disc brakes were equipped from the factory.
The cabin features Royal Blue MB-Tex upholstery on the seats as well as a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes burl wood trim, automatic climate control, cruise control, central locking, power windows, and a Becker Grand Prix cassette stereo that was reportedly rebuilt and retrofitted with an audio input port. Cracks are noted in the dashboard, and the center climate-control vents do not work. Coco Mats are fitted, and the removed floor mats are included in the sale.
Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset clock, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and instant economy. The six-digit odometer shows 91k miles.
The 3.8-liter M116 V8 was factory rated at 155 horsepower and 196 lb-ft of torque. An oil change was performed in September 2020, and the seller reports that the water pump was replaced in July 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
