This 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is finished in black with red pinstripes over a red leather interior, and it is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a black convertible top, a body-color removable hardtop, fog lamps, 15″ alloy wheels, automatic climate control, cruise control, power windows, central locking, and a Becker Grand Prix cassette stereo with Bluetooth connectivity. The car spent time in several states prior to its acquisition by the seller in November 2020, and recent service has included replacing the water pump, timing chain tensioner, valve-cover gaskets, spark plugs, ball joints, and front brake calipers and pads. The car was finished in Astral Silver Metallic (735) from the factory and was repainted in black with red pinstripes under previous ownership. Exterior features include fog lamps, chrome bumpers and mirror caps, a body-color removable hardtop, and a black convertible soft top that can be seen both raised and lowered in the gallery below.
Chrome 15″ Gullideckel wheels are wrapped in 205/65 Pirelli P4 tires that were mounted under current ownership. Additional service within the last year has included replacing the ball joints, the steering damper, the front brake calipers and pads, and the front and rear brake hoses.
The cabin features seats upholstered in Medium Red leather along with matching door panels and carpets, a black upper dashboard, and burred wood trim. Equipment includes automatic climate control, cruise control, power windows, central locking, a wood-trimmed shifter knob, and a Becker Grand Prix cassette stereo that has been modified to support Bluetooth connectivity.
Instrumentation consists of a 170-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The inset analog clock does not work, and the six-digit odometer shows 75k miles, approximately 600 of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.5-liter M117 V8 was factory rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque. The spark plugs, water pump, and valve cover gasket were replaced within the last year, and a fuel system overhaul in 2019 included replacing the injectors, injector seals, fuel pump relay, and fuel pressure regulator.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
