This 1999 Mercedes-Benz S500 is one of 600 Grand Edition examples built to commemorate the end of the W140 production and is finished in black over beige Nappa leather. Power is provided by a 5.0-liter M119 V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission, and additional equipment includes self-leveling suspension, an electric sunroof, headlight wipers, 18” AMG wheels, heated front and rear seats, an electric rear sunshade, and a Mercedes-branded car phone. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2017, and subsequent service is said to have included suspension work, replacement of the heater blower, and an oil change.
The car is finished in Obsidian Black (197U) and equipped with headlight washers and wipers, an electric sunroof, and power-assisted closure of the trunk and doors.
Stock 18” AMG Monoblock wheels are mounted with 255/45 Continental ExtremeContact tires that show 2019 date codes. The car is equipped with self-leveling suspension, and work performed in February 2020 is said to have included replacement of the upper control arms, the lower control arm bushings, the lower front ball joints, the front sway bar link, the front springs and shocks, and the wheel bearings.
The cabin is upholstered in Beige Nappa Leather (235A) with wood trim on the dashboard, center console, door panels, and steering wheel. Amenities include heated and power adjustable front seats with position memory, heated rear seats, an electric rear sunshade, a factory cassette stereo with a trunk-mounted CD changer, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a Mercedes-branded car phone. The heater blower is said to have been replaced in March 2020. Wear is shown on the driver’s seat, and the removed factory floor mats and navigation system are included in the sale.
A four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, auxiliary gauges, and an analog clock. The digital odometer shows 102k miles.
The 5.0-liter M119 V8 is equipped with double overhead camshafts and variable valve timing and had a factory rated output of 315 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. An oil change was performed in October 2020.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission.
