This 2002 Volkswagen GTI 337 Edition is finished in silver over black cloth and is powered by a turbocharged 1.8-liter inline-four paired with a six-speed manual transaxle. Modifications installed under previous ownership include a limited-slip differential, an ATP Eliminator Turbo kit, a GReddy turbo timer and boost controller, a Eurojet intercooler, a Milltek cat-back exhaust system, Porsche front brakes, and an upgraded audio system.
The 337 was a US-market model commemorating the 25th anniversary of the GTI, and this example is finished in Reflex Silver Metallic. A boser extension and a scoop from a Subaru Outback have been welded onto a replacement hood, while a replacement rear hatch has been shaved and de-badged. Additional modifications include a Rieger RS4-style front bumper, aftermarket headlights with HID bulbs, a Freedom Design hatch spoiler, and tinted windows. The seller states that the hatch release intermittently does not work. The removed hood, front bumper, hatch, and R32-style rear bumper are included in the sale.
Five-spoke 18″ TSW Vortex GTI wheels exhibit curb rash and are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The brakes have been upgraded with Porsche 322mm 993TT calipers and rotors with custom aluminum hats up front as well as ECS Tuning lightweight calipers with two-piece floating rotors at the rear. Additional modifications include KW Variant 3 coilovers and a Neuspeed 28mm rear stabilizer bar. A set of factory 18″ BBS RC wheels wearing Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires and H&R wheel spacers is included in the sale.
The cabin features replacement seats upholstered in black cloth with checkered inserts. Audio upgrades include an Alpine head unit and six-disc CD changer linked to two 600-watt amplifiers, Focal Utopia speakers, and a Kenwood Excelon 12″ subwoofer. An R-line shift knob has also been added. Wear is noted on the driver’s seat, the glovebox handle is broken, and the air conditioning does not blow cold. The removed factory Recaro passenger-side seat and rear bench are included in the sale.
A replacement 20th Anniversary Edition gauge cluster was installed under previous ownership and features a 160-mph speedometer along with LED boost and air/fuel gauges. The digital odometer shows 25k miles.
The 1.8-liter inline-four has reportedly been tuned by Hi-Speed Motorsports of Milford, Connecticut. Performance modifications are said to include the following:
ATP GT2871R Eliminator turbo kit with upgraded fuel injectors
GReddy turbo timer and boost controller
Eurojet front-mounted intercooler
Four-bar fuel pressure regulator
AEM water/methanol injection kit
3″ inch cold air intake with an AEM cone filter
ATP exhaust manifold
3″ downpipe with a Milltek cat-back exhaust system
Blitz blow-off valve
Power is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle. A limited-slip differential and a VR6 clutch are said to have been installed by Schimmel Performance of Sellersville, Pennsylvania.
