The car was first registered in Alabama in August 2004 and spent time in multiple states before being acquired by the seller in October 2018. The Lancer Evolution VIII debuted in 2003 and marked the first time the Evo was available in the United States. This example is finished in Lightning Yellow and features a vented hood, a finned rooftop diffuser, a rear window wiper, and a carbon-fiber rear spoiler with matching body-color end plates. LED headlight bulbs and taillights from a contemporary Mitsubishi Lancer have been fitted, and blemishes on the left front door and rear bumper are shown up close in the gallery below.
Silver-finished 17″ Enkei RPF1 wheels are wrapped in 245/40 Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R tires. The car rides on Espelir front lowering springs while braking is provided by red-finished Brembo calipers fitted over drilled and slotted front rotors.
The cabin is trimmed in black and blue fabric and features Recaro sport seats up front, while the black carpeting is protected by embroidered floor mats. Amenities include an Alpine stereo, power windows and locks, and air conditioning. The air-conditioning compressor and clutch were repaired in May 2020 and a Viper 5901 two-way alarm with remote-start capability has been installed.
A MOMO three-spoke steering wheel frames a 170-mph speedometer, a central tachometer, auxiliary gauges, and an odometer that shows 131k miles. An Innovate Motorsport 3-in-1 gauge showing ethanol content, boost, and air-fuel ratio is affixed to the steering column.
The turbocharged 2.0-liter 4G63 inline-four has been modified and fitted with a flex-fuel tune said to be capable of using fuels from 91 octane to E98. Dynamometer test results are presented in the gallery and show a peak output of 405 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Service in March 2021 is said to have included the replacement of the timing belt, water pump, and aLessory belt.
