This 2004 Land Rover Discovery II S is one of 200 examples produced in conjunction with the 2003 G4 Challenge and is finished in Borrego Yellow over Black Mogul upholstery. Power is from a replacement 4.6-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case, and equipment includes black 16″ wheels, automatic climate control, power-adjustable seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, while modifications consist of a snorkel, a roof rack, a steel rear bumper, Old Man Emu springs and shocks, and a Pioneer head unit with smartphone compatibility. The truck was reportedly purchased new from Land Rover Anaheim Hills in California, and it was acquired by the seller in December 2018. Subsequent service has included installing a rebuilt engine from a Turner Engineering in England with a sleeved short-block kit and a Kent Sports Torque H180 camshaft and lifters.
The truck is finished in Borrego Yellow, and the seller states that it was repainted under previous ownership. A hood black-out kit has been installed, and other equipment includes a Safari snorkel, a steel rear bumper, taillight guards, “G4 Challenge” decals, and a Safety Devices roof rack. Peeling paint is noted on the roof.
Black-finished 16″ five-spoke wheels are wrapped in 265/70 Toyo Open Country A/T tires. A full-size spare wheel and matching tire are mounted on the rear cargo door. The suspension has been modified with Terrafirma drag link assemblies and a 2″ lift using Old Man Emu springs and shocks. The seller states that the power-steering pump was recently replaced, and an Old Man Emu steering damper is installed. The brake master cylinder and rear brake pads were replaced in 2017.
The cabin features seats upholstered in Black Mogul fabric with white stitching as well as matching carpets, all-weather floor mats, and a dashboard with a Foundry aLent panel. Equipment includes automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, power aLessories, and a Pioneer head unit and infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay. Torn upholstery on the driver seat has been repaired, and the front window regulators were reportedly replaced.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 179k miles.
The replacement 4.6-liter V8 was rebuilt approximately 8k miles ago in December 2019 using a Turner Engineering short-block kit, and it features cylinder sleeves, a Kent Sports Torque H180 camshaft and lifters, and resurfaced cylinder heads. Other components replaced under current ownership include the thermostat, water pump, spark plugs, ignition coils, injector O-rings, and motor mounts.
Power is sent to the rear or to all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The rear main seal was replaced in December 2019, and a MagnaFlow catalytic converter has been installed.
