Additional equipment includes 20″ wheels, a head-up display, power-adjustable heated front seats, LED headlights, and a Harman Kardon sound system. The car was delivered new to South Bay BMW Mini of Torrance, California and was acquired by the seller in February 2019. Service in December 2020 consisted of an oil change, brake-fluid flush, and spark-plug replacement.
The i8 is constructed from a mixture of aluminum and carbon fiber along with chemically hardened glass, and this example is finished in Protonic Blue with Frozen Grey accents. Additional features include butterfly doors and adaptive LED headlights.
Turbine-style 20″ wheels are mounted with Bridgestone Potenza S001 tires measuring 215/45 up front and 245/40 out back with 2017 and 2018 date codes. The car is equipped with cross-drilled brake rotors and black-painted calipers at all four corners.
The four-passenger interior features seating surfaces upholstered in perforated Amido Black leather with matching door panels, carpeting, and dashboard. Amenities include power-adjustable heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a head-up display, a Harman Kardon sound system, an anthracite headliner, and an iDrive infotainment system with navigation.
The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel is equipped with paddle shifters and frames a configurable LCD display. The digital odometer indicates 20k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership.
Power comes from a mid-mounted turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-three, which works in conjunction with a front-mounted electric motor to produce a factory-rated 357 combined horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. The internal-combustion engine drives the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transaxle, and the electric motor powers the front wheels through a two-speed automatic transmission. The car received an oil change and replacement spark plugs during a 20k-mile service performed by Peter Pan BMW of San Mateo, California in December 2020.
